How Does BMIC Protect Against Quantum Computing?
BMIC's Complete Quantum Defense Architecture
The Four Layers of BMIC Quantum Protection
Layer 1: NIST-Standard PQC Algorithms
BMIC implements the full NIST PQC suite:
- FIPS 203 (CRYSTALS-Kyber) — Quantum-safe key encapsulation for secure key exchange
- FIPS 204 (CRYSTALS-Dilithium) — Quantum-safe digital signatures for transaction signing
- FIPS 205 (SPHINCS+) — Conservative hash-based backup signatures
These replace ECDSA and ECDH — the algorithms quantum computers can break.
Layer 2: ERC-4337 Smart Contract Wallet
Standard Ethereum wallets are hardcoded to use ECDSA. BMIC uses ERC-4337 account abstraction to create wallets that use CRYSTALS-Dilithium for signing. This works today, on Ethereum, without waiting for protocol changes.
Layer 3: Signature Hiding
BMIC's architecture includes signature-hiding technology. Even if a future quantum computer could process Dilithium (highly unlikely — but as a defense-in-depth measure), the signature itself is obfuscated, adding another barrier to attack.
Layer 4: Quantum-Resistant Key Generation
Keys are generated using quantum-safe randomness sources. The key generation process itself uses post-quantum algorithms to ensure that even the key creation process is quantum-secure.
Comparison: BMIC vs. Standard Wallet
| Security Layer | Standard Wallet | BMIC Wallet |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction signing | ECDSA (quantum-vulnerable) | CRYSTALS-Dilithium (quantum-safe) |
| Key exchange | ECDH (quantum-vulnerable) | CRYSTALS-Kyber (quantum-safe) |
| Backup signatures | None | SPHINCS+ (quantum-safe) |
| HNDL protection | ❌ None | ✅ Signature hiding |
| NIST compliance | ❌ No | ✅ FIPS 203/204/205 |
When Does This Matter?
It matters now — because of Harvest Now, Decrypt Later attacks. And it matters increasingly as quantum computers grow more powerful. BMIC is built for the future that is already arriving.
