Quantum supremacy — the point at which a quantum computer can solve a problem that no classical computer can solve in a reasonable time — was first demonstrated by Google in 2019. But 2024's Willow chip was different: it demonstrated that quantum error correction could be scaled, bringing fault-tolerant quantum computing closer to reality.
For the cryptocurrency industry, quantum supremacy is not an academic milestone. It is a countdown timer. Once a sufficiently powerful quantum computer exists — capable of running Shor's algorithm at scale — every ECDSA-based wallet becomes vulnerable. Every Bitcoin, every legacy Ethereum, every token held in a traditional externally owned account becomes at risk.
The crypto industry's response has been slow. Most projects have no quantum migration plan. Bitcoin's UTXO model makes a hard fork upgrade extremely complex. Ethereum's transition to ERC-4337 provides a path, but most ETH is still held in EOA wallets.
BMIC is the exception. From day one, BMIC was built with post-quantum cryptography at its core. There is no migration needed, no fork required. Every wallet, every transaction, every signature is already quantum-safe. This is not a feature being added — it is the foundation of the entire project.
